Chapter 7: The Second Law of Thermodynamics and the Origin and Evolution of Life

This chapter will investigate the effects of the second law of thermodynamics on life, and then show why the second law makes it so difficult to explain the origin of life. Finally, the claim made by some authors that the second law makes evolution after life exists impossible will be investigated.

        This chapter should not be read before chapter 6 because chapter 6 explains both thermodynamics and the second law in detail.
