I have now made two trips to the Galapagos this year. This page
contains some of the better videos
from these two trips. Since video files are quite large - some greater than 7MB, a fast
computer with
high speed internet is required to view these files. For slow internet connections try the
pictures page
or slide show page instead.
Feb 2006 trip - 2 weeks 16 dives with scuba iguana. Best diving I
have ever had. Scuba Iguana's
boat is fast, and their staff offers world class service. I was very lucky to see the
whale shark as these
are rare.

Nov 2006 trip - 2 weeks 14 dives with Nauti diving and 4 with
scuba iguana. November is suppose to be
the best month for diving in the Galapagos, but el nino seems to be adversely impacting
the marine life.
So the diving was not as good as my trip in February. Nevertheless, it was still
better than most places.
On my February trip, the fish were so dense, that they often limited the
visibility. This November the fish were
more scarce. At times the diving was very similar to that in Hawaii (volcanic rocks with
few fish).
At other times, the fish were plentiful. It just depended on the day and the site. Notably
absent from this trip
were Galapagos sharks, golden rays, and manta rays. These were everywhere on my trip in
February.
I don't know if this due to el nino - or the time of year.

Pictures from isabella - one thing I did manage to do on
this trip that I did not on the
first was visit the island of Isabella. I stayed for two nights and hiked to volcan chico.
These pictures are from Isabella, the largest island in the Galapagos.
